Our history

Located in Nurri, in the heart of Sardinia, the UNIONE PASTORI Cooperative Society was founded in 1962, and to this day it represents an organization of producers with a prominent vocation in agriculture and animal farming who want to proudly keep Sardinian traditions alive
The love for the land creates the element of inspiration, and the link between human beings and the land is the driving force that leads to the production of high-quality typical cheeses. The rigorous process of milk selection, careful herd controls and the use of the most advanced technologies are a foundation for our effort, with passion and determination, which leads all the way to the transformation of the milk and the production of fine sheep, goat and mixed sheep and goat cheeses. The unspoiled pastures offered by generous nature are enriched by the flavours of the herbs and shrubs of the Mediterranean scrub, which give the milk and cheeses their special aromas and characteristics.
Out of the efforts of the 500 members of the Cooperative, the need arose to develop a local production system able to publicize and promote the wide range of agricultural and food products of excellence as well as the beauty of the local territory.
From that need, the first Quality Agri-Food District in Sardinia was born, under the name of “Agroalimentari e Zootecniche dei Parchi Naturali della Sardegna” (“The Agri-Food and Livestock Products of Excellence of the Natural Parks of Sardinia”), which aims to be a promotional vector for the image of the products of excellence made by small local agricultural-livestock farms, boosting sales and implementing a culture of sustainability and corporate responsibility.


From this grand project came the need to bring all the products together under one brand name, called “The Food Presidium.” This brand represents a major presence in the landscape of organic and local food producers in Sardinia. Together, we wish to promote and make the most of the products of excellence from the Sardinian territory, through collaboration with the best local producers who share our values of sustainability and quality.We want to offer consumers genuine, high-quality products that respect the environment and traditions of the area. We want to be a benchmark in safeguarding the quality and wholesomeness of food and support local producers who work passionately to provide consumers with wholesome and healthy products.We pay close attention to environmental impact and sustainability, focusing on modern and efficient logistics and sustainable business practices.
